Helios Nurse VR Training

The virtual patient room revolutionizes the training of nurses

The Helios hospitals expand their training program into virtual reality: Nursing staff learn important work steps from everyday hospital life down to the last detail on simulated patients in a virtually reconstructed patient room. Healthcare VR training at 37 locations combines the flexibility of digital training with the physical experience of on-site training..

More Information
Virtual patient room
\ Realistic learning environment

At 37 training centers of the Helios Clinics Group, nursing professionals immerse themselves in a faithfully reconstructed patient room in which they can move freely.

.

Natural interaction with hand tracking
\ Intuitive handling

Tracking built into the VR headset enables natural interactions with the environment and objects using your hands – just like in real life.

VR makes invisible hospital germs visible: Nurses clean their hands for 30 seconds at a disinfectant dispenser. The VR headset records the movements and visualizes whether and how bacteria disappear from the hands.

Lifelike simulated patients
\ Highend-VR-Training

Nurses train on realistically simulated scenarios from everyday nursing practice. The patient appears lively, moves their eyes, and establishes visual contact.

Digital patient file
\ Smart Data

The patient’s health data and medical history are available in the virtual patient record, which prepares nurses for proper handling. Nurses calculate energy requirements, for example, and select the appropriate nutrition for the PEG tube based on this.

Learn flexibly and without time pressure
\ Scalable training solution

In VR, nurses can safely practice previously untested situations as often as they like. This allows them to develop a sense of familiarity with tasks that are rarely encountered in everyday life. Training centers can specifically address staff deficiencies and systematically improve care services.

The training content can be individually expanded, for example, for physicians or for training patients and their families.

Initial performance results show that virtual reality promotes learning and results in a better grade point average than in a comparison group without the use of VR.

Helios Kliniken

In realistic virtual patient rooms, our nurses learn the skills of nursing: from hand disinfection to changing a PEG tube. VR brings a new level of quality to our training.
