NMY Mixed-Reality Communication

From Information to Experience

Advancements in Web3D are one of the most important recent developments concerning the internet domain. While for a long time, the internet served as a web of information, the latest technologies for web-based 3D design, 3D visualization and 3D apps offer completely new applications for a web of the future. The static information web becomes a web filled with interactive 3D experiences.

From up to now unseen web design and dynamic interfaces to novel interaction techniques and business integrated apps, Web3D will fundamentally change our way of visualising, communicating and accessing information online.

Dynamic hybrid vehicle in 3D3D Hybrid-Fahrzeug

NMY has created an interactive showcase to demonstrate the potential of novel dynamic web-based realtime 3D applications. The interior and composition of the hybrid vehicle can be explored in detail by zooming and rotating. When the user accelerates or decelerates, the energy flow and recuperation are being visualized by comprehensible animations.

A new Key technology

The advisory board KTBL, sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Nutrition, Agriculture and Consumer Protection, commissioned NMY to create  fun, intuitive method of helping people understand new agricultural laws. The result is an interactive 3D configurator that uses a real-life model of a cow to explain and show different aspects of the amendements. We adapted this so-called cowfigurator for various platforms. One of those is WebGL. Experience the cowfigurator live.

Exports and native WebGL

Flexible implementation

Interactive 3D has been around in the web for a while. NMY offers two approaches to WebGL solutions. We export data from the Unity engine and optimize it for the browser. The second option is the use of native WebGL, meaning the employment of the JavaScript library three.js. With three.js, we create 3D apps especially for the browser. Which approach is the right one at a given time is decided on an individual basis, depending on use case and kind of application.
